Julie Hawke 695th Toronto Guides and Pathfinders
This year for this challenge, we decided to teach the girls to *read* a map instead of to draw one. What we did was bring in a bunch of map books of the city. We taught them how to look up a street or given location, and how to find it with the given coordinates. The girls were much more attentive to this, and I think that they learned a more useful skill than drawing one. I know that out here they have to draw a map of the community in geography in school, so it was definately school work in their eyes!
