The following poems were found printed on some laminated cards (about the size of business cards), most likely intended to be carried in your wallet or purse. Authorship is attributed to Kristone.
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When we might have won had we stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse that you must not quit.
If you think you're beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win, but think you can't,
It's almost for sure, you won't.
If you think you're losing, you've lost.
For out in the world we find -
Success begins with a person's will,
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you're outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise.
You have to stay with it,
In order to win the prize.
Life's battles don't always go,
To the one with the better plan.
For more often than not, you will win,
If only you think you can.
You took the time to stop and chat as you passed by today
To jest a bit in pure delight before you went your way.
You took the time to lend a hand when I was faced with care
To give the strength of fellowship, to comfort and to share.
You took the time for words of praise that warmed me through and through
You took the time to be a friend so patient, kind and true.
Some people have a wonderful way of putting others at ease . . .
They say and do the little things that will comfort and will please . . .
They have a special kind of warmth, they're quick to under- stand.
And whenever there is trouble they lend a helping hand.
This world of ours is a better place and happier by far . . .
Because there are some special people as wonderful as you are.
