Job Description for the
Troop Leader
Girl
Scouts-Mt. Wilson Vista Council
Appointed by and
reports to: Service Unit Manager (volunteer) and
Membership Services Director (paid staff member)
Term of appointment:
One year-October 1 to September 30. May be reappointed yearly
Purpose of Job:
To work with girls in planning and carrying out a quality Girl
Scout program
Principal Duties
- Acquire fundamental
knowledge of the Girl Scout program. Complete new leader
orientation training within one months of appointment.
- Recruit adults to serve as
members of the Troop Committee; maintain a working
relationship with the committee.
- Prepare for and conduct
troop meetings on a regular timetable.
- Plan troop program with
girls.
- Promote variety in the
troop program and provide new learning opportunities for
girls.
- Register troop promptly
and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate effectively
with troop's parents.
- Participate in Council
fundraisers-Fall Products, Cookies, and Parent
Partnership.
- Attend or send
representative to Association and Service Unit meetings.
- Participate in the
planning for Service Unit activities.
- Become familiar with,
accept, and follow Girl Scout policies, standards,
procedures, and practices as defined by GSUSA and Mt.
Wilson Vista Council.
