Pop Can Bank
The simplest bank of all is made from an empty (rinsed) pop can.
The opening will accommodate most coins and can be enlarged as required.
It can be covered with Mactac, gift wrap, or a paper wrapper.
We have made a bank wrapper with a sketch of three Sparks holding hands printed on it. The Sparks coloured them in as they wished. These were used to collect friendship pennies.
Alternately, the girls could be given the blank wrapper and be challenged to decorate it with a variety of crayons, felt markers, glue, sequins, glitter and feathers for example. Spark age girls (Canada: 5-6 years) love experimenting with various textures. Each girl ends up with a unique bank this way. Glue sticks work well to position the wrapper.
