Keeping Animals out of Food Containers

  • A metal trash can with a catch on it works well for food.

  • Rubbermaid is good but squirrels tend to eat thru it (seen them do it too!) Bungie cords can be used to help keep it closed. Bells on it helps to scare away the critters too and warn you.

  • If you know of anyone in the food business, large heavy plastic vats with lids and a metal rim with catch works well too.

  • If you're worried about raccons, you could hang stuff in trees, too, just make sure it's at least 8ft from the tree, branch and ground. Knapsacks or Rubbermaid containers with handles or small coolers work well.
