Apple Cake from Denmark

Ingredients (serves 8): Method:
  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the sugar.
  2. Add the eggs.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder together.
  4. Add the flour mixture and milk into the saucepan, and stir thoroughly.
  5. Pour half the batter into a cake pan (9-10 inch or 24 cm diameter).
  6. Arrange one layer of apple slices on the batter, then pour the remaining batter on top.
  7. Dip the remaining apple slices in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, and arrange on top.
  8. Bake the cake on the bottom rack of the oven at 356F (180C) for about 45 minutes.
