St. Patrick's Day - Pot o' Gold Swaps
This is a very easy craft for all ages. I have used it
for Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Birthday swaps. One hint might
be to cut the felt bags and shamrocks before the meeting to save time.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Material needed:
-
Green Felt - 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (cut into rectangle)
-
Ribbon - approximately 1/3 yard
-
Bear - 1" tall (flocked type - different colors)
-
Shamrock - 1" (cut from another color of felt - I have used a different
shade of green)
-
Pillow stuffing / Fiberfill
-
Potpourri - about 1 tablespoon
-
1" pin back or magnet
-
Pinking shears
-
Hot glue gun
Assembly instructions:
-
To make the bag, cut the material with the pinking shears (this makes a
neat design on the edges). Fold the felt in half and seal using the glue
gun. (The fold is on the bottom of the bag and the two sides are glued.)
Leave the top end open.
-
Stuff bag with potpourri and fiberfill. Tie a ribbon around the top of
the bag about ¾ of an inch from the top, gathering the bag slightly.
Glue the ribbon to the bag so it won't slide. Tie the ribbon in a bow.
-
Glue the cut shamrock in the center front of the bag.
-
Glue the little bear to the top of the stuffing, as though he were sitting
on top of the gold.
-
Glue a pin or magnet on the back, and you're done!
