• In the UK cars drive on the left hand side of the road. If your home country drives on the right, try to imagine that you are taking a younger brother/sister to play with a friend. You need to cross the road to get there. Show how to cross safely in a country where cars drive on the other side to what you are used to.
• Find out about the three flags (St. George, St. Andrew and St. Patrick) which combine to make the Union Jack. The Welsh flag is a red dragon on a green and white background. It was adopted as the Welsh flag in 1959. The red dragon is a symbol from the time of the Roman occupation, when Welsh chiefs were known as dragons. Henry VII introduced the red dragon into the Royal arms, but King James I of England later replaced it with the Scottish unicorn.
