Thank You Certificates
Bev Walkling
32nd Sarnia Girl Guides
We did certificates for all our
girls and for the parents who helped at any point too. They
weren't specially fancy, but the girls loved the thought that
went into them.
We took one of the new
colourful pads with camp symbols on them and made the
certificates on them.
Two of our girls missed the
banquet where these were handed out, but all the other girls
instead we read their awards to as they wanted to know what they
had been given.
Here are some examples:
- The special "New
Knees" Hiking Award - for my ability to do
3 hikes much to every one's amazement only 13 weeks after
having both knees replaced
- The "I can do
anything at the drop of a hat" Award - for
our Junior leader who came directly from Sparks to our
meeting each week and had to fit in on a moment's notice.
- The "Candle-lighting
made easy" Award - for the girl who really
struggled to learn how to light a match and succeeded.
- The "Willing
to help" Award - for the girl who was
always there without complaint when a job needed doing.
- The "Wheelchair-pusher"
Award - for the Guide who took on the job of
pushing me around in my wheelchair as long as I needed
it.
- The "Best
Friends" Award - for the two girls who were
friends , then enemies then friends again.
- The "Cheer-leader"
Award - for the Guide who showed the highest
energy and spirit and who taught us all to cheer-lead.
- The "Drive to
Stay Dry Award" for the parents who opted
to drive a van around Pinery Provincial Park with open
sleeping bags in to get them warmed up for a cold night.
- The "Giant
Aspirin" Award - for all
the big headaches my co-leader had to deal with because
of my surgery and limitations this year. (I actually had
a giant Aspirin shaped soap to give her for this one!)
These are just a few of what we
came up with. All had something unique to the individual they
were chosen for. We will definitely do this again next year!
